A 7 page research paper on the Mexican Revolution and the decades afterwards. The Mexican Revolution promised the Mexican people many things--an end to deprivation, poverty and political domination by the elite being among them. The following examination of Mexican history explores how well these promises were fulfilled and whether or not the processes of modernization provided the rights that would improve working class lives. The writer concludes that, in general, the Mexican Revolution did not live up to its promises to the common people. Bibliography lists 2 sources.

MGM Studios and Walt Disney as Foucault’s Fantasy Space

Michel Foucault discusses modernity along two threaded lines. He posits that modernity begins with a fantasy created space implemented by a subculture that defines itself through a subset of names, places and events. In support of this, the subculture creates within its world a spectacle of heroes in which the icons of the subculture are paraded in front of the culture by performing feats of survival, usually dark, cruel and even gruesome tests. Modernity is a created world, Foucault said, where discipline and punishment are inseparable from display to create the group spirit, or subculture, itself.... jvOrntlm.rtf
